Calvin Edward Bennett, 72, of Anderson, passed away Feb. 15, 2016, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born June 16, 1943, in Alexandria, and graduated from Lapel High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army.
In 1999, he retired from Delco Remy after 35 years of service.
Calvin was an avid woodworker, loved to play golf with his boys and father-in-law and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Bennett; sons, Brent Bennett of Pendleton, Jeff Bennett of Anderson and Stephen (Denise) Bennett of Anderson; grandchildren, Laci (Cody) Gerard, Alex Bennett and Nicklaus Bennett; great- grandchildren, Hendrix and Jovi Gerard; foster mother, Eileen Love and family; sister, Sue (Don) Miller; brother, Michael (Donna) Bennett; sisters, Tonya (Gary) Lucas and Tamara (Don) Everett; sisters-in- law, Linda Pickett and Carolyn Love; brother-in-law, Mike (Pat) Gallamore; sister-in-law, Toni (Dan) Nottingham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Glenna Bennett; foster father, Ward Love; brothers, John Bennett and Jim Love; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Betty Gallamore; and father-in-law, John Tumulty.
Special thanks to his hospice team and nurse Kathy and chaplain Margie.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with the Rev. Margie Vandergraff officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
