Louise Almond Shoemaker Copeland went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the age of 94.

She was the daughter of the late Carey Mercer and Bessie Chandler Almond, born on October 22, 1921.

Mrs. Copeland was preceded in death by husbands, Donald D. Shoemaker and James Edwin Copeland, Sr.

Also preceding her in death was brother, Chandler M. Almond and sister-in-law, Christine O. Almond.

Mrs. Copeland was a bookkeeper for Bedgood Lumber Co., Builder Supply and Normal Hardware for many years; later in life she managed the bookkeeping for her son's business. Mrs. Copeland joined Prince Avenue Baptist Church at age 10 and was a faithful member all of her life. She volunteered in the preschool department for many years and was a counselor at Athens Pregnancy Center also for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and a prayer warrior. She never met a stranger and had a generous soul. Her greatest joy was being with her precious grandchildren and they were the light of her life.

Survivors include son, David Almond (Julie) Shoemaker; beloved grandchildren, Hannah and Noah Shoemaker; brothers, Ralph (Dot) Almond and Tip (Marty) Almond; stepchildren whom she adored: Kawin (Clayton) Price of Nashville, TN; James E. (Patricia) Copeland, Jr. of Duluth, GA; Gwynne (Carl) Espy of Cumming, GA. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kathy (Ed) Perdue and Clay Price, both of Nashville, TN; James (Helen) Copeland III; David (Darcy) Copeland; William (Kelly) Strong; Beth Strong; Amy (Clint) Fondren, all of Atlanta, GA, along with a number of very loved nephews and their spouses and families and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Care to Continue and Compassionate Care Hospice for the wonderful care and support of Louise these past few months in her home. Pallbearers will be James Copeland III, Clay Price, David Copeland, William Strong, Trey Almond and Daniel Almond.
