Ms. Katie Bertha Boyd Cooper, age 87 of Whitewood, Virginia departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Buchanan County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Grizzle Boyd. Katie was a loving mother and a devoted homemaker who spent her life caring for her family. She was a lifelong resident of the Whitewood area and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Katie is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie Roosevelt “Scrap Iron” Cooper and her daughter, Shirley Faye Cooper Wimmer.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with the Elder Danny Davis and Elder Aaron Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Grizzle Family Cemetery in Whitewood, Virginia. Family will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00pm on Wednesday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home.
