Rena was born May 23rd, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas and grew up on a farm in Nixon, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Felton and Lanny Wake. She was the oldest of four siblings and survived by brother Fred and his wife Wanda Wake, brother Glen and his wife Paula Wake and sister Paulette and husband Gary Finch.
On August 31, 1962 she married Floyd (Andy) Anderson. After their first date Floyd told his dad, “She is the one.” They were married 53 years and had two children Karyn Anderson and grandchildren Kyle Jackson and Claire Jackson and daughter Kay Lay and grandchildren Harper Lay and Lyndon Lay. Rena loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart, but her favorite was her white poodle Biscuit.
Rena Graduated from Nixon High School in 1960 and was a cheerleader throughout high school. She later went back to school and completed her teaching degree at Corpus Christi State University. A few years later she completed her Masters degree and graduated top of her class. Rena taught school 28 years at CCISD and touched the lives of many children. She went to her students sporting events and she would help students by paying them for chores if they needed financial assistance for furthering their education. Rena was an active member in Community Bible Study and led her Sunday bible class at Second Baptist Church.
A viewing will be held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday February 16, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held Wednesday February 17, 2016 at Second Baptist Church beginning at 11:30 am. The family will make sure Rena is not late.
