Maurine Garrard McKean (Nana) 1921 ~ 2006 Our precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away February 1, 2006 from age related complications. Maurine was born February 21, 1921 to Uvada Bingham and Archibald Garrard in Burley, Idaho. Her family moved to Salt Lake where she lived and was educated. She met and later married the love of her life, Richard McKean, on October 16, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple where Pres. David O. McKay sealed them. She was a wonderful mother to three daughters and a son. "Generosity and service" was her motto and she was always there to cheer on her children besides being the "prettiest room mother." She was blessed with remarkable creativity and a love of God's beautiful creations. Her "magic hands" molded nearly a million delicate roses over the past forty plus years, made of her own special bread dough. All who were recipients of her talent adorned earrings, pendants and other interesting rose creations. She taught children, teens and adults (and all of her children's dates) to form these delicate roses with their own fingers. It was a joy for all to learn. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was devoted in serving the Lord and His Church. She served in both Stake and Ward Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society callings. She served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. She assisted in the dJoseph Cannon); and is survived by her husband of 64 years; three children: Karen (Donald Springer), Kathleen (Scott McNeil), and son Brian, 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one more on the way. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6th at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray 24th Ward, 755 Three Fountains Dr. (755 E. 5010 So.). A viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home (4760 South State) on Sunday, February 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again from 11:30 to 12:45 at the ward prior to the funeral.
