Harold Wintle Dance, a valiant and devoted family man, friend, and businessman returned to his Heavenly Father on Feb. 12, 2016 at the age of 91.
He was born Sept. 24, 1924, the third son of Willard A. and Lula Wintle Dance in Blackfoot, ID, where he grew up and graduated from local schools. Harold contracted Polio at the age of three, which he said was a blessing, because it motivated him, gave him determination, compassion, and with a positive attitude, helped him learn to overcome obstacles. Many enjoyed his vocal talent as a bass soloist.
He attended USU, where he was very involved in a variety of organizations and student government. While there, he helped create and manage the Temporary Union Building (T.U.B), which is now the Taggart Student Center. He graduated from USU and went on to attend and graduate from Harvard Business School.
Upon returning to Logan, he first noticed his future wife, Ruth Ballard Dance, while she was speaking at a stake conference. They were married March 26, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with three children, Debra, Dixie, and Brad. His greatest joy was being with his family. In 2004 his only son, Brad, was tragically killed in a car accident. Life was never the same for Harold and Ruth.
Harold built a successful career in the field of financial planning, opening his own business, Harold Dance Brokerage in 1961. He loved helping others prepare for retirement and financial security. He founded the 457 Retirement Plan for educators, taught classes at USU, and served on the College of Business Advisory Board. He also gave back to the community through service and donations. He was instrumental in bringing a Cancer Center to Logan and also established male and female business scholarships at USU in Brad’s memory.
He was devoted to church service and leadership his entire life, magnifying various callings, including Bishop twice. Harold served in the New England States Mission and later served with his sweetheart, Ruth, in the Illinois, Nauvoo Mission. He was a generous, kind, loving, Christ-like man who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his two daughters: Debra (Robert) Ellis of Providence and Dixie (Wayne) Finlayson of Bountiful, and daughter-in-law: Tammy Dance (Larry) Radabaugh, 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; their son, Brad; his parents; his brothers, Roland (Eileen), Donald (June); and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Ruth Hess.

Funeral services will be under the direction of the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward, but will be held in the Hillcrest Ward Building, 875 N. 1500 E., Logan, UT on Saturday, Feb. 20th at noon, with a viewing both Friday evening from 6-7:30pm at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan, and Saturday from 10:30-11:45 am at the church. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
