NEW CARLISLE, IND.

William Brummitt, 85 years old, passed away at his home on Chesterton Monday evening at 4:30 o'clock afternoon after a illness of less than a week. He was a Civil War veteran and a member of Deacon Post, No. 115, G.A.R. He was also a member Terre lodge, A.F. & A.M. For many years he was in the hardware business here and was a Director in the New Carlisle First National Bank. Mr Brummitt was born in Offett, Yorkshire, England, but came to the United States when he was 21 years old. He is survived by three sons: John Brummitt and Arthur Brummitt and three daughters Mrs Jennie Goodykuntz and Mrs Maria Augustus and Mrs Emily Loring of Valparaiso. The body will placed in family vault at the New Carlisle cemetery.
