Horace Hillam Higgs, age 83, of 863 N. 500 W., Bountiful, died Feb 25, 1974 at home of natural causes.

He was born July 24, 1890 in Salt Lake City to Alpha J. and Mary Ann Hillam Higgs.

He married Myrtle Perkins, June 3, 1917 in Bountiful. He was a graduate of the University of Utah in 1912.

Employed (by) Utah Apex Mining Co., Bingham Canyon, as an accountaint, 1918 to 1927, and assistant manager from 1927 to 1932. Assessments appraiser for Utah State Tax Commission, 1934 to 1939. He was a geologist from 1939 to his retirement in 1959. Former member of American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers.

Survivors: wife; son, Willis, Greenwhich, Conn; daughters: Mrs Paul (Janet) Thompson, Centerville; Mrs James (Monza) Steven, Pasadena, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters: Mrs Mary Erickson, Mrs Rowena Stromberg, both of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the Bountiful Union Mortuary Chape where friends called Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. and Thursday prior to his services. His burial was in the Bountiful Memorial Park under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Union Mortuary.
