Maxine was born in Logansport, Louisiana on December 15, 1930. She was the 7th and youngest child of Rube Creech and Bernice Barfield Creech. Maxine grew up in Logansport and graduated from Logansport High School. This is where she met her High School sweetheart and future husband Aubrey Valentine. They were married on July 3rd, 1952 at the First Baptist Church of Logansport.
Maxine is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches Texas. Maxine retired from Calhoun County Independent School District after 37 years of teaching. She received Outstanding Teacher Award in 1994. She was also awarded the Extra Mile Achievement Award from Delta Kappa Gamma. She was an Elementary Teacher (2nd grade) her whole career. In retirement her love of Genealogy became her main hobby and she compiled several booklets on Valentine, Creech, and Neely families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rube Creech and Bernice Barfield Creech; three brothers, Jarrell Creech, Dan Creech, and Lloyd Creech; and three sisters, Gladyce Russell, Mildred Freeman, and Mary Alice Perry.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM. Services will be performed by Pastor Larry Green, Chaplain for Hospice of South Texas.
Internment will be at O.E. Price Cemetery on noon, Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Logansport, Louisiana, and will be presided over by Pastor Timothy Roberson of First Baptist Church of Logansport. Published by Rosewood Funeral Home.
