PAUL, IDAHO Karol McClellan Hodges, age 78, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at her home in Paul.
She was born Jan. 22, 1927 in Grace, Idaho, a daughter of Scott and Mildred Aylett McClellan. She was married to Blaine D. Hodges January 25, 1948, in Evanston, Wyo. They made their home in Ogden, Utah, while Karol finished her registered nurse education at Dee Memorial Hospital and began her nursing career. She continued private duty nursing while raising a family and working beside her husband on various family farms near Rupert, Raft River and finally Paul, Idaho. Karol returned to part-time nursing at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in 1967, where she worked until retirement in early 1995. She lived her life as a nurse, giving love and care to those in need. She found great joy in gardening, flowers and embroidery.
Surviving family are her husband, Blaine; her children, Kirk (Sheryl) of Midvale, Utah, Craig (Jill) of Fairfield, Calif., Mark (Cecilia) of Sandy, Utah, Kevin (Liz) of Elko, Nev., and Michele (Scott) Rigby of Rexburg, Idaho. In addition, there are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, DeLores (Homer) Brighton of Kaysville, Utah; and numerous special friends. Karol was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hollis McClellan and Arthur McClellan; and two sisters, Avis Blodgett and Verla Isom.
The family wishes to express their love and immense appreciation to the Minidoka Hospice staff. Donations to the Minidoka Home Health & Hospice organization are requested in lieu of flowers.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at the Paul LDS Stake Center, 424 W. Ellis in Paul, Idaho.
Interment will be in the Paul City Cemetery immediately following the service.
