Anne Irene Powell, 89, of Genoa, IL died suddenly on Thursday, February 11, 2016, in her home.


She was born on April 15, 1926, in DeKalb the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Mondrona) Smith.She married Donald R. Powell on June 8, 1946, in DeKalb.


Anne was employed for a time at General Electric in DeKalb. She was a member of St. Catherine of Genoa Church in Genoa and an avid member of the Bel-Mar Country Club. She also was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary. Anne enjoyed golfing, bingo, and was always baking for people and liked to crack a joke but usually forgot the punchline.


Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; son, Terry; brothers, John Smith and Mike Smith; sisters, Mary Roach and Kaye Newburg.


A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016, in St. Catherine of Genoa, 340 South Stott Street, Genoa, IL with The Very Reverend Donald M. Ahles officiating. There will be a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Cooper Quiram Chapel, 202 E. Main Street, Genoa, IL 60135. Burial in St. Catherine Cemetery in Genoa, IL.
