Son of Annis "Anonie" Ames & Avery Ames who were married on May 7th, 1809, Rutland, VT. He married Adelia Ward on March 8th, 1843, Castleton, VT. The couple had four children in Vermont (the 1850 Rutland census has their surname as Amez) before moving to Kaneville, IL in the mid 1850's where they had their last child (Avery). (Note: the Delia A (1859 VT) in the 1870 census was their niece, daughter of Mathias & Caroline nee Ellis Ames). After his wife's death, Charles went to live in Kalamazoo, MI with his daughter Annette Osborn & her family.
