Lewis Graham Bailey, Jr., 82, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Hospice Savannah. Graham was born in Savannah April 14, 1928. He graduated from the Citadel with a degree in Electrical Engineering after which he entered the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and retired from the Army Reserves in 1988. He was a Commanding Officer of the 429 Medical Battalion stationed in Savannah. For fourteen years, he was Assistant Director of Operations with the Georgia Ports Authority, Vice President of Chatham Services which operated East Coast Terminals located on the Savannah River, east of the city. After six years, he worked for Savannah Foods and Industries as President of Transales Corporation. He was a former member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1, F. & A.M., Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities, American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Military Order of the World Wars, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Sertoma Club of Savannah, Chatham Club, First City Club, Savannah Inn and Country Club, Plimsol Club, Transportation Club of Savannah and the Savannah Yacht Club. He was a member of Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. Graham was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Graham Bailey, Sr.; sister, Betty Echols [sic, Eckels], and his son, Lewis Graham Bailey, III. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Mary M. Bailey; daughter, Cheryl Anne Bailey Oliver (David); son, Michael W. Bailey; former daughter-in-law, Suzy Bailey; grandchildren, Jennifer DuBois, Herbert Ashley DuBois, Jr. (Marie), Michael Alexander Bailey, Davis Christopher Armand Bailey; six great-grandchildren, Lauren DuBois, Olivia DeLatore and Carson Lewis DuBois, Robert L. Heath, Valda M. Heath and Michael J. Heath. Visitation: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday November 19, 2010 at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church.
