Effie Emma Smith "Mama Jean", age 81, died February 9, 2016 at her home in Sikeston, Missouri.

She was born March 6, 1934 in Lilbourn, Missouri, daughter of the late Arvin J. and Martha Emma (Friend) Driskill.

Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Eagles Club, where she had been a Bingo worker for many years. She had worked as a manager for Kellet's Restaurant and was one of the original Roll Makers for Lambert's Cafe.

She was married to Thomas B. Smith; he preceded her in death.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis King; one sister, Margaret Bendict; and two grandsons, Brian Smith and Cody Myers.

She is survived by three sons, Frankie Joe King of Des Arc, Missouri, Tony Smith of Sikeston and Gary Nolan Smith of Essex, Missouri; three daughters, Brenda Parker and Linda Allen both of Des Arc and Kathy King of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Doris Chaney of Orange Park, Florida; 15 grandchildren; and 41 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 12, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn, Missouri.
