Betty Bumgardner, age 93, of Mountain City and Brushy Fork Rd., Trade, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on February 8, 1922 to the late Frank Rash and Rosa Wallace Rash. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Bumgardner, two sisters, Pearl Nye and Mary May and four brothers: Glenn Rash, Fred Rash, Dale Rash and Dean Rash, sister-in-law and caregiver, Freda Rash.

Betty was retired from Watauga Hospital in Boone with 25 years of service, she enjoyed being a farmer, growing her garden, working in her flowers, cooking and baking. Betty was known for going yard selling when she was able. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

She is survived by nieces, Della Mae Rash, Karen Rash, Roseletta Reece all of Trade, TN; Barbara Witte of Cincinnati, OH and a nephew Fred Rash, Jr. of New Castle, DE, and several great nieces, nephews and a special friend, Jolene Bumgardner.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Steven Spencer officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Snyder - Rash Cemetery, in Trade, TN. Pallbearers will be Janel Manuel, Brian Reece, Greg Reece, Gary Nye, Don Rogers, Tyler Townsend and Charlie Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Herbie Adams, Earl Greer, James Walter Wilson, Danny Ray Nye, Gary Reece, Keith Wilson, Danny Cullop, Brad Reece and Dr. John Whitlock .

The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Snyder Rash Cemetery % of Allen Snyder 888 Allen Snyder Rd., Trade, TN 37691 or the charity of your choice.
