Ludowici – Thomas Patton “Tommy” Way, Sr., 83, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at his home under the care of family and Hospice of South Georgia.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Long County. He retired from Interstate Paper as an electrician after 34 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid gardener who grew beautiful flowers, loved music and loved his cats.

He was a member of Elim Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Way.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Milton Way of Ludowici; daughter, Lynn Sapp and Kenny of Screven; son, Thomas P. Way, Jr. and Corilee Young of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Lena Way of San Jose, CA; brother, James Way of Cathedral City, CA; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 11 at 11 A.M. at the Howard Funeral Home chapel with military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Greg Middleton, Ricky Aspinwall, Speedy DeLoach, C.L. Chang, Manuel Sneed, and Wallace Shaw.
