Shirley Jean Yarbrough Tynes, 76, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Bob Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born in McKinney, Texas, to the late Roy L. and Annie B. Yarbrough. Her early education was in McKinney and Los Angeles before moving to Waco in 1942 where she attended Waco schools and McLennan Community College. She married Lewis W. Tynes on Jan. 31, 1947. She and Lewis loved their many trips and travel adventures throughout the years. She enjoyed the cooking and hosting of the family events for her four generations and the many special moments with her cherished grandchildren. Shirley managed the family insurance business for 20 years and retired from federal service in 1991.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lewis, in 1996; brother, Roy L. Yarbrough Jr.; sisters, Dine McKinney, of Waco, and Annie Ruth Yarbrough of, McKinney; and great-granddaughter, Paige Dvorak, of Austin.

Survivors include son, Ronald Lewis Tynes, of Clay Center, Kan.; daughters, Teresa Tynes Gibbs, of Waco, and Revis Hester, of Waco; grandchildren, Scott and Cherie Gibbs, of China Springs, Michele and Brett Dvorak, of Austin, Jay and Heather Gibbs, of Waco, Heather Gibbs and Mike Gardner, of West, Richard Tynes, of Clay Center, Kan., and Patty Miller Harriman, of Dell City, Okla.; 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua Lewis MClaren, of Chalk Bluff, Chase and Caitlin Gibbs, of Waco, Taylor and Emma Dvorak, of Austin, Alaina, Amber and Justin Parra, of China Spring, Haley Tynes Gibbs and Madison Brooke Gardner, of West; sister, Helen Hopmann and husband, Harold, of Rosenberg; and several nieces and nephews.
