Alice Edith Welch joined her Heavenly Father Friday, February 5, 2016. She was born to John Burris Lasater and Rosa May Adkisson May 27, 1916, in Cleburne, Texas.

Alice grew up in the Temple area. After marriage to Barney D. Welch, August 22, 1934, she lived in numerous locations for short times before her final 45 years in Austin.

She loved family, gardening, and sewing and was very devoted to reading her bible and attending church. She had great pride in her writing ability, and was very accomplished with word puzzles. As a participant in the 2013 Austin Senior Olympics, she was awarded a medal in the spelling bee event. One of her pleasures was listening to inspirational tapes and reading inspirational material. She has occupied her time the last 2 years painting printed pictures of flowers and animals.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Reba Davenport of San Antonio, a son, Richard Welch and wife Anita, a granddaughter, Vicki Laginski and husband Marc, a grandson, Mike Welch and wife Peggy, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family expresses their appreciation to the caring staff of St. David's North Austin Medical Center and to a lifelong family friend, Doris Foster, who always found time for supportive visits.

A graveside services will be conducted at Bellwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Temple, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be given in her memory to Austin's Meals on Wheels or to their favorite charity.
