Billy Joe Gilbert was born September 21, 1934 in Alco, Arkansas to Vera Lucille and Luster Ralph Gilbert. He passed away February 2, 2016 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 11 days.

Billy grew up in Arkansas, Washington state and Odessa, Texas where he attended high school. After leaving school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served 4 years during the Korean conflict and was stationed in Japan. After his discharge, he returned to Odessa, Texas where he found employment in the oilfield. He was married to Margie Loyce (McMillan) Gilbert at Odessa, Texas on August 8, 1965. Together, Billy and Margie moved to Elk City where he owned and operated Gilbert's Tong Service until 1989 when he retired. Billy and Margie spent their retirement years traveling with their camper, spending time at their lake house, playing golf and fishing. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and in the 1980's worked with the Shriners riding motorcycles in parades.

He was preceded in death by his parents,infant daughter, Evelyn Beth Sears, infant sister, sister, Brenda McMauham, brother, James Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Margie, Elk City, OK; 2 sons, Shane Gilbert and fiance', Amy Telford, Cheyenne, OK, Billy Gilbert and wife, Dustie, Elk City, OK; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Ann Foster and husband, Porter and a host of other relatives and friends.
