Douglas E. “Doug” Lane, 44, of Peru passed away the morning of Feb. 5, 2016, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in St. Valentine’s Church, Peru, with Monsignor Brian Rejsek officiating.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Arrangements are by Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home, La Salle.

Doug was born Jan. 8, 1972, in St. Mary’s Hospital in La Salle to Edward and Rosemarie (Tominello) Lane. He was a graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School. He married Diane Rimmele on Sept. 7, 1996, in St. Hyacinth Church, La Salle.

Doug was an HVAC technician at John’s Sales and Service in Oglesby and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 1. He previously worked as a carpenter. Doug’s passion was coaching his sons and other local youth in baseball and football, including travel baseball teams, for eight years. He truly cared for all the boys he coached, mentoring them to be the best they could be on and off the field. He was a die-hard L-P sports fan and he loved watching the success of the boys he had previously coached. He was a member of Peru Little League and La Salle-Peru Youth Football League boards. He enjoyed fishing, camping and snowmobiling and he was a loyal Chicago Bears fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family, especially his two sons.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tyler and Drew Lane at home; his mother, Rosemarie Lane of Peru; his sister, Lisa (Chris) Schaede of Middleton, Ohio; two brothers, Dave (Lori) Lane of Peru and Don (Shannon) Lane of McLean; several nieces and nephews and his dogs, Layla and Shadow.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
