Ray Browning, a native of Craig, Mo., died Thursday morning in a St. Joseph hospital following a long illness. He had been a resident of St. Joseph the past 15 years.

Ray, the only son of W.A. (Bud) and Julia May Browning, was born on Feb. 18, 1889 at the family home north of Craig, east of Corning, Mo.

He grew to manhood in the same community and on Sept. 4, 1912, he married Mabel Marie Bostwich of Craig. To this union three children, Eva Mae, Harold Gates and Allison Edward, were born. His wife, Mabel, died Oct. 27, 1928. Later he married Nellie Huffman Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nellie Huffman Browning of the home; two sons, Harold Browning, Mound City, Mo., and Allison E. Browning, Granger, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Eva May Smith, Twin Falls, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Troxel, Craig; Mrs. Clara Fitzsgerald, Lodi, Calif.; and Mrs. Bernice Yandell, Savannah, Mo.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were held at 1:00 o'clock, Monday afternoon at the Heaton-Bowman East Chapel.
Burial was in Mount Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
