LEON -- Services for Virginia R. Haymes Addington, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Leon Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Vinson officiating. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery.

Born Oct. 24, 1925, in Leon to David Clarence Haymes and Esther Parker Haymes, she died June 20, 2006, at a Marietta health care facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Addington; a daughter, Pam Ward Bernadino; her parents; an infant grandson; and sister, Anna Laura Gibson.

Virginia was raised in the Leon area and spent most of her adult life in California. She moved to Muskogee 20 years ago and had lived in Marietta the past three years.

She graduated from San Jose College with her degree in psychology and worked as a secretary for many years, among them one of the first large computer companies and a labor union. Virginia has a passion for reading and writing poetry. She was a member and past president of the Shakespearean Book Club. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and spending time with family.

Survivors include sisters, Betty and husband Henry Hicks, Ardmore, Juanita "Skeet" and James Hicks, Jimtown; a brother, David and wife, Madge Haymes, Hot Springs, Ark.; stepson, Richard Addington, San Jose; stepdaughter, Patty Musladin, Gilroy, Calif.; grandchildren, Heather, Eric, Jessica, Tanya and Scott; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a host of special friends.

Bearers will be Duane Hicks, Mike Parker, Steve Hicks, Jimmy Householder, Jimmy Veith and Matt Haymes.

Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and will be open until 9 p.m. this evening for visitation. An online guest book available at: [email protected].
