Roger was a retired electrician from Eagle Mountain Finishing Company and served in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cramerton, 40+ year member of New Hope Optimist Club, former member of the Cramerton Jaycees, coached Little League for over 40 years with the New Hope Optimist Green Team and the Belmont Little League Allstars; an avid fisherman, member of New Hope Square Dance Club for over 15 years.
SURVIVORS: Wife of 42 years, Judy Kay Wallace Yates; daughter, Julia Yates Williams of Lowell; son, Roger Wade "Roddy" Yates, Jr. and wife Natalie of Gastonia; brothers, Gary D. Yates and wife, Patricia of Gastonia, Ralph L. Yates and wife Laura of Spring City, TN., Ray W. Yates and wife, Hilda of Jasper, Texas; grandsons, Timothy John "T. J."
