Wallace Clifford Austin
March 21, 1923 - February 22, 2010

Wallace Clifford Austin of Harriman originally from Dayton, Tn. Left the earthly bonds to be with his maker on February 22, 2010. Those who knew him will deeply miss his smile, laugh, warm welcome when he saw them. He had a wonderful life and will greatly missed by all that knew him. Wallace moved to Roane County in the 1940's where he worked for Burlington Industries for thirty plus years, he also was the manager of both the Harriman City Pool and the Emory Golf & Country Club Pool for numerous years. Where he taught a large percentage of Roane Countians their first swimming lessons. He was the co-owner of the Minute Store at Caney Creek in Midtown. An Eagle Scout and former Scout master, a Little League Baseball coach, and was on the Harriman City School Board for twenty-two years. He also loved his church and could be seen ushering the same door at South Harriman Baptist Church for over twenty years, never missing a Sunday unless his health would not allow him too. During his retirement years he worked part-time for twenty years at Kroger in Midtown. Where he was deeply loved and appreciated by all who worked with and all that served by him. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brother, Eugene Austin, and a sister, Billie-June "Peep" Austin.
