Jack Chamberlain

Glendale, Utah

Chamberlain was born on July 12, 1934 in Orderville, UT. His parents were Lyle Moroni Chamberlain and Nancy Blackburn Chamberlain.

He was raised at Hidden Lake Ranch and went to school at Valley school where he played in the high school band and played football.

At age 17 he joined the US Navy and served from 1951 until 1955. He was aboard troop transports, supply ships and an ammo ship all over the Pacific during the Korean War.

He was married to Mary LeFever, LaTola Worth, Kathy Pugh, and Carol Hansen. Jack and Kathy lived in Flagstaff, AZ and had a daughter in 1966 who he named Nancy, after his mother.

He did many jobs throughout his life but being a powder monkey was his career. Jack was an independent contractor for 28 years in explosives doing what he loved best all over UT and Northern AZ and NM. He worked blasting the Virgin River Gorge and was very proud when his daughter, Nancy, told everyone that HER dad built that highway.

After a lifetime addiction to alcohol he was for- tunate to find a way to stop drinking in Alcoholics Anonymous in April, 1981 and never took another drink. He remained active in AA, served in many jobs in the groups and helped others who wanted to sober up and remain that way. He touched many lives and he will be remembered for his passion for helping others find their way to being happy, joyous and free as he had.

He began to lose his vision to macular degeneration but didn’t let that stop him helping others with low vision or blindness. He went to the VA blind rehab center in Tucson, AZ and then worked with the Utah Council of the Blind in southern Utah until 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Vance and Royce.

Survived by his daughter Nancy Loy, son-in-law Steve Loy, and his mostloved granddaughters Kymberlee and Jessica Loy (Enumclaw, WA) and his sister, Verona Talbot (N. Ogden).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Utah Council of the Blind. PO Box 1415 Bountiful, UT 84011-1415 Attend an AA meeting if you’re looking for a way to stop drinking. Make friends with elderly neighbors, even the ornery ones, and listen to their stories! There is so much to learn from them.
