James Newton Bowie, 67, of Beatrice, died at his home Sunday. He was born in Crescent City and had lived in Humboldt county for the past 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Caroline; two sons, Joseph Bowie of Beatrice and Elmo Bowie of Rohnerville; three daughters, Mrs. Madeline Keisner of Bull Creek; Mrs. Fay Moses of Los Angeles and Miss Violet Bowie of Myers Flat; a brother, William Bowie of Eureka; three sisters, Mrs. Bell Galanoff of Eureka, Nellie Cleveland of Crescent City, and Lena Sowaik of Eureka; a grandson, Marvin Bowie of Beatrice.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierce Mortuary Wednesday with Brig. Clara Nielson officiating. Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Fowler, Jack Walker, Ralph Christie, Jack Niskey, Nick Nelson and Walter Santsche.
