Mrs. Alice Helen Denton, 68, 16 S. Franklin St., Florence died at ECM Hospital Thursday at 8:05 p.m. after an illness of three months. She was a native of Russellville, Alabama, had lived in Florence 24 years, was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lee-Hi Church of Christ with Kelby Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Florence Cemetery, Morrison-Elkins of Florence directing. She is survived by three sons, Felix F. Denton, Houston, Tex., Clayton Denton, Nashua, N.H., John L. Denton, Florence; five daughters, Mrs. Eugene Lemay, Florence, Mrs. Rose Carpenter, Florence, Mrs. Virginia Ann Braudaway, Florence, Mrs. Elsie Lyons and Mrs. David L. Beard, both of Houston, Tex.; two brothers, Dexter L. Hovater, Montgomery, Walter Hovater, McIntosh, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Nera Campbell, Mrs. Orbie Pedent, both of Decatur, Mrs. Florence Hill, Russellville; 29 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Bearers will be Benjamin L. Beard, Rickey W. Denton, John L. Denton, Felix F. Denton III, Roger E. Lemay, Floyd W. Lemay. The body will remain at the funeral home until it is placed in the church to lie in state for one hour.
