"Services for Mrs Hope Allen, aged 51, wife of W H Allen of Britton Run, will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Torrey funeral home in Spartansburg. Rev C A Fuller of the Centerville Baptist church will officiate and interment will be in the Riceville Cemetery. Mrs Allen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Beatrice Skiff, at Britton Run at 5:25 pm Tuesday. Besides the husband and daughter, she leaves two sons: J R Allen of the Marines, stationed at Quantico, Va, and Donald Allen, at home. There is a grandson, Allen Skiff; a sister, Mrs Zepha Maynard of Union City; and a brother, Milton Bloomfield of Britton Run. She was well known in the Britton Run community and for a number of years was correspondent for The Herald."
