Jewell Osteen Thornton, born Aug. 28, 1924, peacefully went to claim her reward for a life well lived on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, in Bedford. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Tenn. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia. Memorial service: 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at The Hills Church of Christ in North Richland Hills. The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late J.T. Osteen and Sadie Love Osteen. She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Highland Church of Christ in Columbia, Tenn. Jewell made friends everywhere she went, with everyone she met. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her beloved family. Survivors: She blessed and is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Thornton Autry; grandsons, Leighton Autry (Jennilee) and Nathan Hvamstad (Leslie); great-granddaughter, Vivienne Autry; sister, Joan Frye; niece, Lee Ann Frye; cousins; and many loving friends.
