A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Shanghai Memorial Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rebecca’s name may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Association-Michigan Chapter. Rebecca was born June 10, 1950 in Aurora, IL to Dale & Carol (Illyes) McCurdy. She graduated from Aurora West High School-Class of 1968 and attended The College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. On January 31, 1981, she married Frank Woods in Elgin, IL. Rebecca wore many hats over the years, her favorite being that of an Artist. Her paintings & drawings, inspired by her love of nature and flower gardening, were displayed and sold in many stores in the Geneva area. She also worked in the mental health & social service area as the director of independent living at the Larkin Home in Elgin for many years. Rebecca enjoyed the opera, ballet and the great arts. She and Frank were members of the Art Institute of Chicago for over thirty-five years. In her free time, she enjoyed flower gardening, running and hiking, and being outdoors.
Rebecca is survived by her husband Frank; her daughter Leda (Adaś) Wolk of Snowmass Village, CO; her canine companion Indigo; her brother Michael (Cynthia) McCurdy of Flat Rock, NC; her brother-in-law Robert (Leone’) Woods of Hillsborough, CA; and her nephew Mark Woods. She was preceded in death by her parents.
