Charles P. Amdahl, 72, of Sioux Falls, SD died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls. His memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 30 at St. John American Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, with burial of the urn at 1:00 PM Monday, February 1 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Friday, January 30 at George Boom Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Charles Philip Amdahl, son of Leonard and Grace (Duncan) Amdahl, was born December 5, 1943 in Flandreau, SD. He grew up on a farm near Trent, SD. Charles received his elementary education at Blinsmon School #9 and graduated from Trent High School. He also took courses at the IBM Institute in Omaha, NE.
Charles entered the United States Navy on August 20, 1963. He served on the USS Wiltsie during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on August 23, 1967 in San Diego, CA.
Charles was united in marriage with Dianne Feehan on April 20, 1968. The couple made their home in Clifton Park, NY before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1979.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Dianne; two sons, Eric Amdahl, and his wife, Cheryl, Arvada, CO, Jason Amdahl and his wife, LaFae, Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Christopher Amdahl and his wife, Bobbi, Brandon Amdahl, Garett Amdahl, Kellie Jae Amdahl, Jeremy Amdahl; two great-grandchildren, Aurora Faye and Elias Gauge; his brother, Roger Amdahl and his wife, Dene, Sioux Falls, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Eric Amdahl, in 1995; and his parents, Leonard and Grace.
