Major League Baseball Player. For five seasons (1969 to 1973), he played at the outfielder position with the Cincinnati Reds and Montreal Expos. Born Clyde Wayne Mashore, he excelled in football, basketball, track and baseball during his years at Clayton Valley High School in California. Signed by the Reds as an amateur free agent in 1964, he was chosen by the New York Mets as a rule 5 player in 1967, however he was returned to Cincinnati in 1968. He marked his Major League debut with the Reds on July 11, 1969 and appeared in 2 games that year, prior to being acquired by the Expos following that season. In 1973, he played in a career-high 93 games, as he shared right field duties with veteran Ron Fairly. Mashore produced a career-high 40 hits with 23 RBIs. His son Damon Mashore played Major League Baseball and his son Justin Mashore became a hitting coach with the Los Angeles Dodgers' organization. His grandson Richard Rodgers played at the tight end position in the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers.
