Ferrell Kirk Thorpe, 89, entered Heaven’s gates Saturday, January 23, 2016, after a gallant battle with ALS. She spent her final hours at home, with her family for whom she was a continual source of love, strength and inspiration. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 28, at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Houston, TX. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, 1215 Campbell Road, Houston, TX., of which she was the sole surviving charter member. Graveside services will be at 12 noon, Saturday, January 30, in Liberty Community Cemetery, near Cameron.

Ferrell born in Cameron, Texas. She served for many years at the Dad’s Club YMCA, City of Spring Valley, and Spring Branch ISD.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Wix Thorpe, Sr.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (Bruce) Sauer and husband, Bruce, Jean (Gene) Boisaubin and husband, Gene, and Jennifer Miller and husband, Todd; sons, Wix, Jr. and Gary "Kirk" Stokes; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Lee Kirk Posey and Dorothy Sue Kirk Curtis; other relatives and many friends.
