WD “Lew” Lewellen, 93, of Scottsbluff, died December 18, 2015 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Lew was born on September 6, 1922 at Mulhall, OK, to William Raymond and Jennie Maude (Brown) Lewellen. He received his early education in Canon City, CO, graduating from Canon City High School.

Lew married Mary Louise Moschetti on March 12, 1946 at Canon City, CO, and made their home there for a while.

Lew lived his early days in the back woods of Marshall Pass in CO and the Beckford Ranch, also in CO.

He served in the Army and when he got out he bought the O K Rubber Welders franchise, on Broadway in Scottsbluff. He was recalled to the Korean War in the early 50’s and upon his return he worked for B & C Steel Corp. for a while before purchasing back the tire shop, which he owned until his retirement in 1997 at 75 years old.

He and his hired man, Stan Hill, each built dune buggies back in the late 60’s. He liked to drive around in his “buggy.” He especially liked taking his “buggy” to Kimball, NE for Memorial Day and to Canon City for his class reunions.

Lew liked to make cassette tapes and CD’s for friends and customers. He liked to take movie pictures of his family and other happenings around town, showing them on holidays. He transferred the movie film to VHS tape and CD’s during his retirement out in the garage.

Lew was a member of the Elks Lodge and VFW.

Lew was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Edna Mae Johnson and Juanita Blair.

Cremation, Burial unknown.
