Norma Ellen (Herring) Montgomery was born on Nov. 25, 1961 in Stanford (hospital), Lincoln Co., KY and raised in Junction City, Boyle Co., KY. She was the daughter of Marvin Stanley Herring (1934-1994) and Atlanta Rose "Rosie" (Stephens) Herring Sinkhorn (1936- ), the fourth of their four children.
Norma's father, Marvin, was born in Danville, Boyle Co., KY and is buried in the Wilson Fairview Cemetery located just outside Junction City. He was the son of James "Jim" Herring (1905-1989) and Ella Sue "Dillie" Strevels (1911-1977), both born in the Parksville area of Boyle Co., KY. Both of Norma's paternal grandparents, Jim and Ella, died in Boyle County and are buried in the Parksville Cemetery.
Norma's mother, Rosie, was born in Parksville, on Tennessee Ridge, at the home of William Whitmill Stephens (1909-1966) and Sarah Jane Wilson Stephens (1873-1937). William had moved his family there from Scott Co., TN about 1912.
Rosie, the family's genealogist, is the daughter of Edward Jackson "Ed" Stephens (1910-1996) and Nellie B. Wilson (1916-1995). Ed was born in Isham, Scott Co., Tennessee near the KY/TN state line, Nellie near Strunk in McCreary Co., KY. Both lived most of their adult lives on a farm just outside Junction City and are buried in the Wilson Fairview Cemetery.
On April 19, 1981 Norma married William Perry "Bill" Montgomery (1948-2013) in Boyle County. Born in Parksville, he was the son of William Roma "Bill" Montgomery (1924-1973) and Katherine Johnson (1923-1990). Both of Bill's parents were also born near Parksville and are buried in the Parksville Cemetery.
Norma and Bill were married for 34 years and had five children. They were Brian Montgomery, Kevin Montgomery, Denise Montgomery, Debbie Montgomery and Renata Montgomery.
A loving mother and grandmother, Norma worked at Intelligrated and was a member of the Pleasant Run Baptist Church.
Norma's husband, Bill, died on Feb. 27, 2013 in Junction City, Boyle Co., KY at the age of 64. He was buried in the Wilson Fairview Cemetery.
Norma died on Jan. 23, 2016 in Danville, Boyle Co., KY at the age of 55. She too, will be buried in the Wilson Fairview Cemetery, beside her husband, Bill.
