Victor was the son of William Harrison Hake and Catherine Hake. He married Emilie Lange on 25 October 1891 in Walworth County, Wisconsin.

In 1880 he was living with his family in Jefferson, Wisconsin. In 1900 Victor and his wife Emilie were living in Jefferson with their children, Luella, Webster and an unnmamed 2 month old son. Victor was a blacksmith.

Emilie Lang was born September of 1869 in Germany. Her parents were born in Germany. Emilie immigrated to the United States in 1871.

In 1920 Victor, Emilie and their son Gerald were living in Duluth, Minnesota. Victor worked as a blacksmith in a shipyard.

In 1930 Victor and Emilie were living at 2838 Nagle Avenue in Chicago, with their daughter Luella Hake Hess, her husband, Elmer and daughter Lorraine, age 7.
