Mildred ‘Millie’ Ann Olson, 90, of Greeley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. She was the last of her family of seven siblings to pass away.

Millie was born June 9, 1924, to Johan Albin and Anna (Johansson) Aronson in Chicago, Ill. When she was only months old, the family of eight moved to Minnesota. She attended Littlefork High School and graduated in 1942. After graduation, Mildred worked in the Twin Cities piping fighter plane oxygen systems during the war.

Millie married the late Einer Olson on Dec. 3, 1949, and eventually had two sons, Jon and Gary. Because of Einer’s job, the family moved often and lived in Adams and Milwaukee, Wis., South Saint Paul, Minn., Madison, Wis. and Rockford, Ill. Millie, along with her husband, also owned and operated a dry cleaning business, and in later years worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for a door company. In April of 2006, Millie moved to Greeley to be near her sons and grandchildren.

Millie’s passion and desire was to bring the saving grace of Jesus Christ into the life of others beginning with her family. She was an active member of her church, taught many years of Sunday school and held countless weekly Bible studies. “I thank my God every time I remember you…and being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it to completion, until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil. 1:3, 6) Millie also loved photography and spent hundreds of hours putting together photo albums that told the story of the lives of her loved ones from beginning to end.

Millie was preceded in death by her mother, Anna; her father, Johan Albin; her brothers, Axel, Conrad and Art; her sisters, Bertha, Gundla and Helen; and her grandson, Lester Oliver II.

She was a beloved mother to Jon (Sharon Harken) Olson of Greeley, and Gary (Ann Showers) Olson of Colorado Springs and a beloved grandmother to Rebecca, Bethany, Ryan, Rachel, Joshua, Justin, and Jacob; and a beloved great-grandmother to 17 and counting.

A memorial service celebrating Millie’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Windsor. A viewing will precede the service beginning at 11 a.m., and internment will follow at the Eaton cemetery.
