Mrs. Nellie Adams Burnette of Charlotte, 82, died August 4, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel with Reverend Bill Prather and Reverend John Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel.

Mrs. Burnette was born October 8, 1918 in Wilkes County, NC, daughter of the late Noah and Dilly Dotson Adams. She was a member of Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church, Ladies Sunday School Class, was formerly with Irene Mills at Taylorsville until 1954 and was a caretaker for many small children who knew her as 'Nanny' and loved her very much.

Surviving are her daughter, Retta Burnette Millsaps and husband, Bill, of Charlotte; sister Lou McQuary of Mooresville, NC; brother Henry Martin of Wilksboro, NC; grandchildren Susan Varner and Michael Millsaps; great grandchildren Lee and Brandon Millsaps and Alex and Sarah Varner.

Mrs. Burnette was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Burnette. Memorials may be made to Harris Hospice, c/o Presbyterian Hospital, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.
