Born on October 16, 1948, in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Thomas H. Johnson and Elsie Mae (Meredith) Flanagan.
Mr. Johnson was the second of five children and had been diagnosed as developmentally disabled. He also suffered from chronic challenges. Mario lived his last 21 years beginning June 14, 1978 in Hagerstown, Maryland where he resided in an alternative living unit at The Arc of Washington County, Inc. until his untimely transition. Mario enjoyed music, movies, TV games, cards, shuffled and real animals and going out to dinner and to church. He enjoyed vacationing, including a trip to Disney World, this past January. He was a happy and lovable gentleman, polite and showing care for others, always smiling. Mario will truly be missed by many.
Surviving are two sisters, Shirley P. Norris, of Baltimore, and Sherrizan B. Flanagan, of Keyser, WV; two sons, Ricky R. Flanagan, of Baltimore, and Michael W. Flanagan, of Keyser; two special friends, John Trevett and Fred Crothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Gardens, Elkridge.
