Charles E. Slagle, 73, of Templeton, died at 6:15 p.m. at Veteran's Administration Hspital, Butler. A life-long resident of Templeton. he was a retired clay miner for Harbison Walker Refractories. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post of Kittanning. Born July 2, 1898 at Templeton, he was a son of Smith and Maude(Dyess) Slagle. Surviving are his wife, Ethna I. (Adams) Slagle; two daughters, Mrs. John (Shirley)McKelvey, Kittanning, Mrs. James (Rose) Brumbaugh, Kittanning RD5, three sons, Robert, Chicago, IL, Harry (Bud), Kittanning and Raymond B., Chicago, IL; two brothers, Lee, Templeton, Homer, Titusville; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Ethel) Robertson, Franklin, Mrs. Janet Reed, Kittanning, 14 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A brother Harry is deceased. Friends will be received at the Merwin-Kennedy Funeral Home, Kittanning. Visitation hours are after 3 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 1:20 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Russell Hawk, pastor of the Templeton Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cochran Cemetery.
