Glenda Lou Robertson, 78, of Salem, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at her home. She was born December 7, 1937 the fourth child of seven, to Earl and Afton Anderson of Salem. She grew up on the family farm where she learned to care for the livestock and plant and harvest the crops.

In her youth she worked at the Showhouse and the Del Ru Café, both in Sugar City. Along with the needle work, handwork and domestic skills she learned from her mother, she was also a tomboy and her dad’s right hand man.

While still in her senior year of high school at Sugar Salem she met her husband Kent. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 17, 1955. After their marriage they lived in Plano, Sugar City and Idaho Falls. After a few years they moved to California where Kent worked plastering swimming pools and Glenda worked in a pharmacy. They raised their family in California until they returned to the Rexburg area in 1976, helping family clean up and rebuild, following the Teton Dam Flood.

Glenda worked at Porter Printing for a few years, then at Johnson Drug & Hardware as a clerk and in the pharmacy. She worked there for several years until the store closed, then went to work at Broulim’s. She ended her working career driving school bus for 14 years for the Sugar-Salem School District.

Just a year or so after having their last child leave home, Glenda and Kent began the process of raising 4 of their grandchildren, so they raised two families.

Glenda enjoyed many hobbies and occupied a great deal of her free time making quilts, crocheting baby blankets for every grandchild and great grandchild up until the time she couldn’t do it on her own, then she enlisted the help of her daughter, sister and others to get it done.

She and Kent belonged to a local square dance group and enjoyed dancing around the upper valley and surrounding area. She put her sewing skills to good use, making her dresses and Kent’s shirts in matching fabrics.

They were dance directors in 1974-1975 for the Livermore Ward in California, which involved several local and regional dance festivals. They really enjoyed doing this with their four teenagers.

Together, they enjoyed driving spud truck for several seasons during spud harvest.

Glenda enjoyed teaching her children how to water ski. Together with her family, she enjoyed camping, snow skiing and various outings.

She will be remembered by many for being a kind and loving person and she will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her husband, Kent Robertson of Salem, her children, Rick (Kathryn) Robertson, Mardi (Chuck) Muller, Vard (Michelle) Robertson all of Rexburg, Idaho, Brook Robertson of Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as 15 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Earlene Parkinson of Rexburg, Idaho and Delia (Gary) Wood of Omak, Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Brenda K Robertson, siblings, Doug, Cleon and Larry Anderson and LaRee Bennion.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Salem LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Plano Cemetery.
