Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Buddy, Charlie, Ed, Idos, J. L. and Clovis Taylor; three 3 sisters, Maggie Prentice, Nadine Mahan and Pauline Renshaw.
She is survived by two sons, Michael and wife, Kelley Hayes of Tampa, Fla., Lee Melton of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughters, Lisa and husband, Kenneth Chisum of Lovington and Lucy and husband, Roy Conn of Clovis; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Jo Ann grew up on a farm in Artesia, N.M. and was a farm wife and homemaker. She later worked as a telephone operator here in Lovington for many years. She attended the Baptist Church wherever she lived.
She moved to Clovis to live with her daughter as her health was declining. About 9 years ago she moved to the Retirement Ranch in Clovis. She was one of the youngest living there. She worked at the gift shop and manned the telephones. She made the residents lives happier by being an encourager to each one, keeping their spirits lifted and letting them become her family also.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel in Lovington, N.M. James Kirby will officiate the services. Burial will be in Lovington.
