Margaret Eileen Zike Newsom, a homemaker, and native of Venice, Illinois, and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016 of natural causes at the age of 93.
She is survived by her sons, John D. Newsom II and Michael D. Newsom; daughter, Susan Newsom Cantwell; nine grandchildren, Stacey Hathaway Bell and husband Brad, Michael Hathaway, Jr. and wife Erin, Yvette Buckner and husband Al, Timothy Achee and wife Deepa, Angela Newsom, Heather Newsom, Lindsey Nizzo and husband Ryan, Ashley Newsom, and Douglas Newsom and wife Katie; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Derrell Newsom; daughter, Valerie Achee; parents, Golden D. Zike and Sophia Vaughn Zike; sisters, Alice Zike and Mary Zike Fischer; and brother, Goldie Zike.
Visitation will be at University United Methodist Church on Friday, January 22, 2016, from 10 AM until a Memorial Service at 11 AM conducted by Rev. Carol Civils. Interment will follow at a later date.
