Mr. Thomas H. King, age 79, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Friday afternoon January 15, 2016 at Quality Health Care of Fernandina. Born in Jesup, Georgia on Sunday February 9th 1936, he was the sons of the late Oley King Sr. and Mildred Irene Roddenberry. As a young child, Mr. King and his family came to Fernandina. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the United States Army from where he was Honorably Discharged in 1959. Upon returning home he began a long career at ITT Rayonier in Fernandina Beach. He worked in the Pulp Industry, for 30 years, as an Acid Maker, until retiring . He enjoyed many things in his lifetime including, playing the Harmonica, fishing, being out of doors, time spent with his children, listening to a variety of music, and traveling. His family has fond memories of vacationing in Bryson City and Maggie Valley, NC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Oley King Jr. and a brother-in-law, Howard Mullis. Mr. King leaves behind his children, Clyde King and his wife, Susan, Fernandina Beach, Christina King, Yulee, FL, and Christopher King, Boulogne, FL, his siblings, Edna Mullis, Nethadean Wilder and her husband, Curtis, Stanley King and his wife, Brenda, Carl King and his wife, Joy, Patricia Forehand and her husband, Terry and Jean Henn and her husband, Whitey all of Fernandina Beach, his grandchildren; Corey, Heather and Tyler King, Lee and Lori Davis, Kimberly and Tim McColly, Jacob Green, great-grandchildren Nickolis Nash, Triston Paraday , Izaiah Davis, Aiden McColly and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his biological family, Mr. King leaves behind the staff and residents of Quality Health Care of Fernandina that have been his extended yet loving and compassionate family for the past 10 years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home.
