Emily Jo Lawson (Gamble), age 75, of Powell went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on January 18, 2016. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother (Gammy). Her big family was her whole world.
She was preceded in death by her parents Reece and Dorothy Gamble.
She is survived by her loving husband and love of her life, Larry Lawson, after being married for 55 years; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Sid Alexander; son and daughter-in-law Cale and Beth Lawson; brothers Sam Gamble (wife: Marty), John Gamble (wife: Susan) and Bob Gamble (Sharon), Don May (wife: Jennie); brother-in-law Roger Lawson (wife: Regina); grandchildren Cassidy Roberts, Harrison White, Lauren Lawson, Skylar White, Luke Lawson, Maddy Alexander, and Jace Alexander; special cousins, Lonna Lindsay and Sharron Lindsay Quarrles; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, many special friends, and her loving, little dog Pandy.
She was a member of Beavercreek Cumberland Presbyterian Church all of her life and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She also served in several ministries throughout her life and was dedicated to meeting the needs of the church and loving people along the way. She has touched many lives with her sweet spirit and leaves this world a better place because of her demonstration of love for others. She had a wonderful connection with her kids' ball teams, they were her kids too. She was mom to everyone.
She worked and retired after 40 years for Dr. Walt Beahm and was instrumental in the development of Summit Medical Group. She remembered him as not only a wonderful boss, but great friend.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Armand Wood, Dr. Tom Morgan, Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center and Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center.
A celebration of Emily's life will be held at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5-7 with the service immediately following. Her graveside will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 22, 2016 at Grandview Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
