Ruth D. Jenkins, 88, a long time Rushville resident, passed away Jan. 17, 2016 in Indianapolis.
She was born Dec. 5, 1927 in Rush County to Joseph H. and Mary Ann (Peters) Meer. Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Milroy High School.
She married Robert L. Jenkins on Oct. 4, 1961 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1990.
Ruth oversaw operations at the Rushville American Legion for 30 years. She was a lifetime member and served two terms as the President of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also worked many years for Dr. Buhler and Dr. Jackman. She was a past member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville and had been attending St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Indianapolis since living in Indianapolis since 2005. Ruth volunteered at Rush Memorial Hospital several years and was also a greeter at Walmart several years.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Annette and husband Bob Pychinka of Indianapolis; a son, James and wife Jeanette Ringenberg of Appleton, Wis.; step sons, Max and Sharon Jenkins of Sun City, Florida, and Dan and Wanda Jenkins of Connersville; step daughter, Sandra and Dennis Marshall of Indianapolis; 3 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Rushville.
