Be it remembered that on the thirty first day of January in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine. Letters of administration on the estate of Jesse Toney late of Laporte County who died ------ in the Iowa teritory were granted by me in vacation to George Bosserman and Sebert Toney who were by me duly sworn as such administrators and who entered into bond with John Hobson freehold security conditioned for the true faithful performance of their dutied and trusts committed to and required of them as such administrators by the statute in such case made and promised

Based on the information in said probate, his funeral was in 1839 and Henry D. Brown was paid $9.25 for a coffin and shroud. Dr. Lewis McKee was paid $39.00 for attending Jesse during his illness of 13 weeks. Being $3.00 per week, beginning 27 Oct 1838. It is highly likely that Jesse is buried here at Rochester cemetery. As of today, a stone has not been located and this researcher believes that he is at rest beside his grandsons, Phillip and Charles Toney. They are the children of Jesse's son, Jesse Jr and Ann Scott Toney
