Ned was born in 1925 in Eldridge to Peter and Dorthea Pohl Arp. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving injuries while on a tour of duty in the South Pacific. He was united in marriage to Janice Danielsen on June 30, 1945, in Davenport. She preceded him in death in 2003. He later married Lou Dene Horton on Oct. 21, 2008.
Ned spent over 50 years as a sheet metal worker, the last 34 years with the Schebler Company. He was a member coach of the Dads' Girls Baseball Club, and had been a member and past master of Roosevelt Lodge 626. Ned enjoyed fishing three times a year in northern Minnesota, but more so, time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Dene; children, Curtis (Sue) Arp, Wimauma, Fla., and Deborah (Mike) Flores, Salem, Ore.; stepchildren, Shonnie (Jeff) Holmes, Kimbra (Jack) Guzzo, Renea (Tim) Frandsen and Robert (Donna) Horton, all of Davenport; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ned was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
