SGT US ARMY WORLD WAR II
ST. ALBANS- Gerald O. Robertson, 92, died peacefully on January 9, 2016, in Hartland. Gerald was born on December 27, 1923, in St. Albans, the son of the late Earl and Ruth (Finson) Robertson.

He graduated from Hartland Academy, enlisted December 7, 1944, and proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II.

He married Crystal Cuddy Dec. 4, 1944, and together they shared 63 years of marriage.

Gerald worked at the Baxter Canning Company for 15 years. He and his family owned and operated a dairy farm in St. Albans for many years and received the State Grange Family Farm Award. He belonged to American Legion Steeves-McCormack Post 141 of Hartland, the Farm Bureau in Orono and was a 78 year member of the Grange.

Friends, family, and farming were the most important parts of Gerald's life. He enjoyed all aspects of dairy farming whether it was working in the fields, taking care of his livestock, or simply tinkering on machinery that needed to be fixed. His work ethic was admirable, but so was his dedication to family and friends. Gerald would always find time for a conversation with a friend over a cup of coffee. He looked forward to holidays, especially Christmas, and being together with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Beauchesne of St. Albans; a son, Gerald Robertson Jr., of St. Petersburg,FL; five grandchildren; Cheryl Brewster and husband Gary of Manchester, NH, Michael Provencher and wife, Melisa of St. Albans, Darlene Palmer and husband James of West Gardiner, Eric Provencher and wife Marcia of St. Albans, and Tom Provencher and wife Kristen of Barrington, New Hampshire; ten great grandchildren, Sarah and Jessica Brewster; Timothy and Tyler Provencher; Mikayla, Audrey and Brett Palmer; Ryan Bradbury, Matthew Pike and Samantha Provencher; and nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his wife, Crystal; sister, Marguerite Sherburne; brother, Alfred Robertson; and son-in-law, Robert Beauchesne.

A committal with military honors will be at the Village Cemetery in St. Albans. (Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home and Central Maine Newspapers 1/14/2016)
