US Marine PFC Paul Wayne Quick III was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Marine Corps, PFC Quick served our country until January 11, 1968 in Okinawa, Japan. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that he died during a training exercise. He was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, on September 26, 1947. His body was recovered. Paul W. Quick, III, and I hooked-up in Las Pulgas, Staging Battalion wherein neither one of us had a camera. I learned of his death via the Stars & Stripes, while training for combat with a Q-4 Counter Mortar Radar set out side of DaNang at a place called 1st Motors. It was approximately seven miles to Hill 55 from there. Paul and I pulled liberty together in Okinawa before we were split up. Paul was a hell of a good Marine. Semper Fi, Bobby D. Townsend.
